We have a HOLE!!!

So, the process began when we moved here in August (yes, 6+ months ago and it flew by) and we were looking for a place to live in good 'ole TOOELE!! After the first few months of not finding anything, we decided to build. Well, that took from Oct. until now to get the lot, loan and building permit - (ugh - weren't we done yet??!!)
It wasn't much fun - up until now - when we finally broke ground!!! I wanted to have a big ceremony but Brady said to just let the excavator come in and get the job done! I had to take a picture, though, because the excitement was so high - YEA - we have a hole where the house will be and now we have something to look at! (plus we have a TON of extra dirt - any takers??!!)
By the time our house is done (and if you keep reading the blog!!) then we will all know how to build a house from the ground up!! The first step was to dig the hole, then we have the footings guy come and do the footings and foundation (basement walls) after which the plumber comes and sub-plumbs and the walls get waterproofed. The window wells are also put in then we can backfill. All this is going on this week and the first of next - the most important part is to pray for GOOD WEATHER!!! Well, that's step one for building a house and tune in next time for the next few steps - we're sure to have photos to follow!!!

Yea for you guys! I will never build a new house but the tips are good just in case of a miracle.
I will be looking forward to seeing the progress since we can never find our way to Tooele!

I think you got jipped out of a good-ol-fashioned ceremony. Darn those "practical" types! Congrats anyway - sure is exciting!

i actually have experience waterproofing the cement. its not hard. just slop on black stuff, tar, or whatever it is all around the part that will be covered in dirt.
